Mission Statement

The mission of the Leslie County Jailer’s Office is to set the standard as a model organization in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, by using proactive programs, interpersonal communication and modern methods of care, custody and control.  The purpose of the Leslie County Detention Center is to protect the community by securely housing inmates placed there by the courts, or being held pending due process.  The Leslie County Jailer’s Office adheres to the following principles:

·       The safety of public, staff and inmates is paramount.

·     Recognize that staff is their greatest resource and assist them in attaining a successful and rewarding career.

·   Provide training that is beneficial to their staff and those interested in the field of corrections. 

· Create an atmosphere that encourages positive behavior and the integration of responsible individuals who are returning to the community.

·     All persons are held accountable for their behavior.

·     A commitment to the preservation of basic human rights and the dignity of public, staff and inmates.

To operate in a fiscally responsible manner, mindful of the needs of the citizens of Leslie County, Kentucky.
